Vpr - Wikipedia
Vpr, a 96 amino acid 14-kDa protein, plays an important role in regulating nuclear import of the HIV-1 pre-integration complex, and is required for virus replication and enhanced gene expression from provirus in dividing or non-dividing cells such as T cells or macrophages. [3]

HIV-1 Accessory Proteins: VpR - PMC - PubMed Central (PMC)
HIV-1 viral protein R (VpR) is a multifunctional protein that plays specific roles at multiple stages of the HIV-1 viral life cycle and affects anti-HIV functions of the immune cells. VpR is required for efficient viral replication in nondividing ...
HIV-1 Accessory Protein Vpr: Relevance in the pathogenesis of HIV …
The HIV protein, Vpr, is a multifunctional accessory protein critical for efficient viral infection of target CD4+ T cells and macrophages. Vpr is incorporated into virions and functions to transport the preintegration complex into the nucleus where ...

2021年11月25日 · Our findings show that Vpr independently targets hHR23A- and DCAF1- dependent pathways and highlight HIV-1 Vpr as a versatile module that interferes with DNA repair and protein degradation...
Vpr counteracts the restriction of LAPTM5 to promote HIV-1
2021年6月17日 · Here, we report that Vpr counteracts lysosomal-associated transmembrane protein 5 (LAPTM5), a potent inhibitor of HIV-1 particle infectivity, to enhance HIV-1 infection in macrophages. LAPTM5...

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 Vpr: functions and
Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) viral protein R (Vpr) is an accessory protein that interacts with a number of cellular and viral proteins. The functions of many of these interactions in the pathogenesis of HIV-1 have been identified. …
HIV-1 Vpr induces cell cycle arrest and enhances viral gene …
The HIV-1 Vpr accessory protein induces ubiquitin/proteasome-dependent degradation of many cellular proteins by recruiting them to a cullin4A-DDB1-DCAF1 complex. In so doing, Vpr enhances HIV-1 gene expression and induces (G2/M) cell cycle arrest.
Vpr counteracts the restriction of LAPTM5 to promote HIV-1 ... - PubMed
2021年6月17日 · Re-expressing LAPTM5 reconstituted the Vpr-dependent promotion of HIV-1 infection in primary CD4 + T cells, as observed in macrophages. Herein, we demonstrate the molecular mechanism used by Vpr to overcome LAPTM5 restriction in macrophages, providing a potential strategy for anti-HIV/AIDS therapeutics.
