2017年11月25日 · 25 Sep 1943: VT-3 and Saratoga Air Group were reformed at NAS Seattle. The Saratoga Air Group was reformed as Carrier Air Group THREE (CVG-3) with VT-3 as one of the three squadrons. Nov 1944: VT-3 conducted combat operations from Yorktown (CV 10) against targets in the Philippines in support of the Leyte invasion.

2019年1月13日 · VT-5 was deployed on Yorktown (CV-5) at the Battle of Coral Sea (4-8 May 1942). Due to the beating it took, the squadron was replaced by another torpedo squadron called VT-5 during the Battle of Midway (4 to 7 June 1942) in which the Yorktown was sunk. Subsequently, VT-5 served on USS Yorktown (CV-10) April, 1943 through April, 1944.

2023年4月8日 · The Zuiho ended up sinking at 3:26 pm with the loss of 216 men. 5 Days later on October 30th, 1944 Wallace and 24 others from his squadron were awarded the Navy Cross for their actions on October 25th, 1944. Wallace would continue flying missions with VT-19, and on March 1st, 1945 Wallace was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.
