Automotive Design and Development Ltd (ADD) was an English company responsible for the creation of the futuristic-looking Nova kit car. It was based in Southampton from 1971 to 1973 after which it moved to Accrington, Lancashire until 1975.

The company also sold replacement parts to owners around the world who own an original Sterling car. In the UK, the Sterling was copied from the Nova kit car. The name Nova was already trademarked by General Motors in the United States in the 1970s, and "Sterling" was chosen as the new name.

Being characterised by a Batmobile-esque electric lifting roof (no doors), the unprecedented and unique space age design and the rocket ship like driving position, the Nova was one of the most iconic, extraordinary and unique driving vehicles of the 1970’s. Today it is also one of the rarest with but a handful left on the road.

Nova Kit Car - Designed by Richard Oakes in 1971 and launched in 1972. This was my Nova Kit Car as it was when I purchased it second hand in 1989. I have effectively rebuilt it twice, each time not being happy with the result so I went back and redid it to get it to where it is today.

2020年11月12日 · For those who have never come across a VW Nova they were a 1970's icon. infamous for their super-car style and unique. batmobile-esque method of entering her (the Nova has no doors. Instead the roof lifts off on hydraulics to allow the driver to enter/exit the vehicle).
