VanVleet was born in Rockford, Illinois, on February 25, 1994, to Susan VanVleet and Fred Manning. Manning was murdered in 1999 when VanVleet was five years old. [1] His mother later remarried Joe Danforth, an Army veteran and member of the Rockford Police Department, who served as VanVleet's personal trainer. [2]
