The Vespa 946 is a scooter announced by Piaggio, sold under their Vespa brand, that sold starting in July 2013. Piaggio presented the retro-futurist Vespa Quarantasei concept, based on the 1945 Vespa MP6 prototype, at the 2011 EICMA motorcycle show. The final production version, renamed the Vespa 946, appeared the following year, at EICMA 2012.

2016年10月18日 · D'Ascanio's prototype – the MP6 – laid down the design principles for the Vespa in that it was a genuine 'scooter', which was later to be defined as a two-wheel motorised bicycle with a 'step through' frame, floorboards and an enclosed engine to the rear.

D'Ascanio, built a completely new 2-wheel concept which was totally new and innovative. Unlike motorcycles he placed the engine on the rear wheel, a highly original concept.

The motoleggera utilitaria Vespa, or light motorised runabout, was presented to the public for the first time in April 1946 at the Rome golf club. The leg shield sported the new Piaggio logo, which replaced the former aeronautical emblem.
