Vox Uristi exports Dwarf Fortress maps in a voxel format to create beautiful rendering of your fortresses. It uses DFHack to read the fortress data and export it in the .vox format. The resulting file can then be opened in a software such as MagicaVoxel to render it.

Export your Dwarf Fortress map in a voxel format to create beautiful 3D rendering of your fortresses. Head to the website to use it. You need to have cargo installed, see Installing Rust. Vox Uristi is built and run using standard rust commands: cargo build, cargo run.

On Linux, Vox Uristi can also be used in command-line: vox-uristi export --low -2 --high 17 fortress.vox. Run vox-uristi --help to get the full list of options.

2023年4月29日 · The past days I've been making a new tool, Vox Uristi. It uses DFHack to export Dwarf Fortress maps in the .vox format. The exported map can then be used with a rendering software such as MagicaVoxel to make great renders of the fortress. All the pictures were made with MagicaVoxel.

Vox Uristi exports the data in the .vox file with a hierarchy, to allow further customization when rendering pictures. Navigating to the “Layers” in MagicaVoxel, as seen on the left side, it’s possible to hide and show various features of the export.

2025年1月5日 · What distro are you using? That might help us give you better advice (although probably not strictly needed in this case, since there is no AppImage for Vox Uristi, yet). My understanding is that once you have FUSE (or libFUSE) installed, AppImages should just work. It's entirely possible that for you, that only involves loading a kernel module.

2024年5月10日 · Vox Uristi is a software I'm developing to make 3D renders. In short, Vox Uristi saves your fortress into a .vox file containing the 3D model of the fortress. Then, this file can be opened with MagicaVoxel to do the actual rendering of the pictures and animations. Check out Blind's video that shows the process.
