2021年3月7日 · I would be more inclined to have the Vanguard Wellesley Income Fund (VWINX), which has a slightly higher stock:bond ratio, as the only fund in retirement. For every starting year since 2004, the first full calendar year of VTINX, VWINX has supported a higher initial withdrawal rate, with later withdrawals adjusted for inflation, than VTINX.

2022年10月4日 · I held VTINX in my SEP and Roth, but pulled out this year once I had lost 12K, against advice from other Bogleheads, because I couldn't take the stress anymore. I transferred everything from VTINX into Vanguard Federal Money Market, VMFXX, then put it all in treasury bills (thanks to Kevin M's guidance) as an experiment for three months.

An attractive element of the bond portion of VTINX is the 17% allocation to inflation bonds. I have also contacted a Fidelity representative who hopefully can contribute to the conversation. 2007年2月26日 · VTINX is 39.1% Total Bond, 16.7% Short Term TIPS and 13.8% International Bond in addition to 21.2% Total Stock Market and 9.2% Total International Stock Market. IMHO it is very well diversified and I would not have any issues as a sole holding in my 80's.

2021年7月20日 · If it is a taxable account, the income tax owed each year will likely be less by using VTINX. The distributions from an account in VTINX have been lower than from an account in VWIAX. That difference will very likely continue. The distribution amounts made during the past few years by an account in VWIAX were about 50% higher.

Upon research here on BH Forum, it appears now is the absolute worst time to invest in bonds. My goal is to preserve capital, Avoid negative balance. Tax efficiency.

2014年12月27日 · I'm retired in mid 70's and totally invested in VTINX Index fund for the past two years. Not totally dissatisfied with VTINX but also considering the VWIAX managed fund for a little better return. Suggestions on staying put, or shifting to 50% or 100% VWIAX.
