The EMD SD24 is a 2,400 hp (1,800 kW) six-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division of La Grange, Illinois between July 1958 and March 1963. [1] A total of 224 units were built for customers in the United States , comprising 179 regular, cab-equipped locomotives and 45 cabless B units .

The Fox River Valley had been gone about one month and the two SD24's went to work for their new owner, the Wisconsin Central. Here they are coming south through Lomira on the WC, a former Soo Line route.

The Electromotive Division SD24 is a 6 axle, 2,400 HP diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD from 1958 to 1963. It was the first locomotive to be built by EMD with a turbocharged engine, the engine being a 16 cylinder turbocharged 567. The SD24 predated the turbocharged GP20 by roughly a year and a half.
