Wu Yigong (Chinese: 吴贻弓; 1 December 1938 – 14 September 2019) was a Chinese film director and producer. Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Wu Yigong enrolled in the directing department of the Beijing Film Academy in 1956. After graduation in 1960, he was appointed as an assistant director at Shanghai Haiyan Film Factory. [1]

Wu Yigong’s masterpiece is the film My Memories of Old Beijing in 1982, which set a lot of new records in Chinese film history. As an event in CFDG annual award ceremony, this old film was specially shown in CMODA Art Cinema of Chinese Millennium Monument in Beijing.

As the leading figure of the fourth generation of directors, Wu Yigong has infused the aesthetic characteristics of Chinese connotations into his films.
