So it has a bit of history and sentimental value. Makes the time and money spent rebuilding it that much easier....

2018年11月16日 · Last weekend I bought an yamaha yz 250 from 84/85, and I'm planning to rebuild the complete bike. And would try to documenting the rebuild, so here I am. Let's start with a picture of how I the bike was wen I bought it. The bike was running and shifting to all the gears, and the bike is complete. So that's a good starter for the rebuild.

2011年11月12日 · Yamaha had two year development cycles, the 84/85 were mostly the same and then the 86/87 were mostly the same as was the 88/89. As long as the intake has the right angle they should all bolt up. I had a 85, 86, and then a 89. The 85 had nice wide flat powerband but didn't really have a top end hit. I loved it.

2013年6月2日 · In fact 2 of my buddies run amsoil and never had any problems either! Thats' on a 06 rm250, 2 different 2001 yz250's, my 85 atc250r with a stroker motor and a built banshee. All of them love amsoil @ 50:1. Edited June 3, 2013 by TillamookTrailJunkie

2017年3月29日 · Don's granddaughter (DeWaynes daughter) apparently raced the bike in 85 but she didn't like the disc brake that came with the 85s. So I guess Don put a front end of an 84 on it. This makes sense because there were some other things missing/wrong with the bike as Ive learned this past year (missing brackets, wrong rear brake lever , etc).

2024年6月28日 · Get the YZ250, they’re easy to jet and they’ll lug with the 300 all day and are much livelier up top. If you need to go 85 mph you might consider the X model, but I prefer the compression and transmission of the YZ. Get a HITLIS and don’t look back!

2016年6月7日 · I have an 07 250 that was a beast to hold onto. I believe the previous owner did a little porting. My compression is 250 psig. I suck at riding these things. Sure I can pound a YZ125 but a YZ250 is a different animal. I put on a 13oz stealthy and throttle tamer. I absolutely love the bike and tons of controllable and useable power.
