Yowah - A town with no pub! I dropped into Yowah, an outback Queensland opal mining town on the Western edge the Paroo Shire. A dusty 150 ks Nor-east of Thargomindah. After a few days in the swag, the hot artesian spar was most welcoming, as were the hardworking locals.

There are two pools, the first warmer than the second. The Yowah opal field, which includes the nearby area known as Black Gate, is the southernmost opal mining centre of western Queensland. The Five Mile Waterhole at Eulo is the perfect spot to throw a line in and catch Yellowbelly, Catfish and Yabbies.
