[SOLVED] - Hardware Raid or ZFS | Proxmox Support Forum
2025年1月2日 · As for software raid options with pbs, I benchmarked zfs and btrfs. btrfs consumes less cpu and much less RAM than zfs. It also came on top for effective throughput. I tried to tweak the benchmark to account for the very specific load of pbs, a continuous stream of files, sizes between 1Mbytes and 4Mbytes.
ZFS Raid 0 - Proxmox Support Forum
2020年6月28日 · And for experienced users, who know raid and backup strategies well enough to make a good decision if a raid0 is a good option for the use case or not, it shouldn't be a big problem running the three oneliners to create the raid0 pool and add it as storage to PVE:
Frage zu Raid {Hardware and/or ZFS} - Proxmox Support Forum

RAID or ZFS : r/Proxmox - Reddit
In general, Proxmox (via the installer) will do either ext4/xfs on LVM on either HW or linux md raid, or zfs. Either one can be thick or thin provisioned, although in both cases 'thick' is just a size reservation and not a guarantee that blocks will be on a certain part of the disk. ext4/xfs is only used for the Proxmox filesystem, not VM storage (but this does include ISOs and local backups

2024年2月26日 · Hi all! I want to understand on high level how to arrange mirroring RAID using ZFS in proxmox and how to do it step by step. So according to documentation: RAID1 Also called “mirroring”. Data is written identically to all disks. This mode requires at least 2 disks with the same size. The...
RAID vs ZFS vs BTRFS : r/HomeServer - Reddit
2024年1月3日 · I've heard ZFS is the best for redundancy if you're doing more than 2 drives. And that BTRFS is better for certain features it has on top if ZFS features. And that RAID has been around for forever so people are familiar with it. Ive heard that RAID cards have had issues finding errors and have issues with failing after time.
ZFS on top of any hardware RAID is not supported
2020年12月7日 · The reason is that ZFS is not just a file system but also RAID and volume manager. It wants access to the disks as raw as possible. Therefore, either HBA or direct SATA controllers. HW RAID controllers interfere too much by doing some caching themselves or omitting certain data of the disk to the OSD, such as model and serial number or SMART ...
ZFS vs RAID-6? : r/storage - Reddit
2015年9月2日 · ZFS does data checksumming, RAID controllers do not. You are protected against bit flips and other corruption with ZFS, RAID controllers only protect against entire disk failures, nothing more. ZFS will give you better performance with how the ARC works, even better than simple RAID caching. You don't even need all that much RAM by today's ...
Recommended Storage Type, RAID vs No RAID, ZFS vs no ZFS
2024年9月7日 · In the end it really boils down to how important your data is to you and what your budget looks like. Don't mix funky filesystems like ZFS that can do their own RAID with hardware RAID - its a waste. ext4 or xfs on a RAID or ZFS, BTRFS, or BCacheFS on disparate discs. Don't overthink it when starting out with this stuff.
