Please note that emulation via DOSBox frequently suffers from slow performance, laggy input, and audio issues, especially on more demanding ZZT worlds. An alternate emulator for ZZT such as Zeta or a modern source port like ClassicZoo may provide a better experience.

Over the last year, Dr. Dos has built up Worlds of ZZT, a social media project to explore the massive, influential volume of custom content for the 1991 game ZZT.

The use of STK is the best I have ever seen in this ZZT file; the colours are blended and arranged in comical images for the best possible ZZT art. Unfortunately they let Peter Saltfleet (Nadir) do the narrative and preamble.

And he's already posted a couple of entries based off of ZZT. Most of them are pretty cool. I especially like the visual stuff, like his markov-chain alien alphabets.

The Kangaroo Effect is a visual technique for displaying art on dark boards outside the field of vision of the player entity. For gameplay reasons, torches, passages, and the player are unconditionally visible on dark boards.
