Feb 13, 2016 · This is a review and detailed measurements of the ifi Zen balanced DAC and headphone amplifier. I purchased it from Amazon last week. The Zen DAC costs US $130 including free shipping. I must say, I am not a fan of the look of the Zen DAC. It hearkens back to 1960s furniture style which would look out of place on most desktops:

Planning to get a separate headphone amp at a later date. I'm currently looking at two quite different DACs, the SMSL M300 mkii and the Zen DAC Signature.

Dec 21, 2024 · Likewise most DAC's with a USB input are UAC2 compatible. Older models might support UAC1 only (the ones limited to 24/96). I expect you can use the ZEN with Linux, Android, Win and Apple devices.

The Zen Dac perhaps needing a power supply for delivering up to specs, some reviewers have been highlighting this and iFi is mentioning this in their official specs as well.

Jul 30, 2020 · Zen dac has a preference signature which maybe be good or bad depending on the listener. E30 is a bit forward sounding and the Zen dac is laid back. At same volume level, source, listening position and room the e30 is louder. Zen dac has mqa support whereas the e30 doesn't have that. Both are good options for the budget.
