Lima (/ ˈ l iː m ə / ⓘ LEE-mə; locally), founded in 1535 as the Ciudad de los Reyes (locally [sjuˈdat de los ˈreʝes], Spanish for "City of Kings"), is the capital and largest city of Peru.
