Movado is an American watch brand originally founded in 1881 in Switzerland. Movado means "movement" in Esperanto. The watches are known for their signature metallic dot at 12 o'clock and minimalist style; [2][3] the company is best known for its Museum Watch.

Ditesheim renames his young company Movado – a word meaning “always in motion”, in Esperanto, a language designed to unify the world. The breakthrough design of the Polyplan captured attention in the Swiss watch industry and earned Movado its 20th patent in 1912.
