The blue blubber jellyfish is the most commonly encountered jellyfish on the east coast of Australia. They form large swarms which are usually seen for a couple of days every year here in Sydney - usually around March. There is currently a large swarm of them at Shelly Beach, Manly but be warned - they do sting!
