Here's a super simple one-note solo and here's why it works. The A note is the 5th of the D Minor triad, the 9th of G giving it a dominant 9th sound, and the 6th of C, when played in the upper triad is a Major 13th. Take any one note from one of the three chords in a 2-5-1, play it over the three chords, and see if it works and why.
