Save this post and brew your own kombucha Basic unflavoured kombucha (First stage of fermentation, or F1) What you need 2-litre glass jar A piece of Scoby 2 litres water Heaped half-cup sugar 2 tbsp loose leaf tea (the one you use to make chai is fine) Half-cup unflavoured kombucha as starter* Cotton handkerchief or cloth to cover the mouth of the jar Rubber-band or string Method In a pan, boil half a litre of water.
