I’m not crying 😭 🐦 I witnessed a hummingbird fledge (leave the nest) for the first time in my life! It was magic. How does a wee hummingbird that’s only been alive for four weeks manage to fly on its first attempt? It’s just amazing. And they aren’t all alone after fledging. Although they don’t return to the nest, they usually stay very close by for a couple of weeks so that their mother can still bring them food, and can teach them how to fend for themselves. After watching the chicks develop
