Kurinuki is a Japanese traditional ceramic technique meaning to “hollow out” the clay. The boxes are made by first carving and shaping the outside, and once they get to a certain level of dryness, I can begin digging out the inside. I love using this method as it embraces imperfections and offers a completely unique perspective from every angle.
