Planting a Limelight Hydrangea Hedge

Limelight hydrangeas are panicles, or paniculata hydrangeas. They produce their buds on summer growth (new “wood”) so a good hard prune in the spring will not be cutting off any buds, unlike the big leaf/macrophylla types (DON’T TOUCH!). And unlike their diva cousins, these plants are cold hardy and they can tolerate a good bit of sun. Apply this to any panicle type, including bobo or firelight. When? Late early spring or late fall.
