Mammoth Cave, a National park in Kentucky is the longest known cave in the world. Six more miles were added to it this summer. We took the historic tour and learned a lot including that when it was named it was named because that is how the cave’s size was described. It was mammoth in size. They had no real idea then just how large it actually was and we may still not know. Volunteers each year discover more and more passage ways. There is even graffiti in the cave, words written with smoke soot
