It's a Scrumpy kind of morning... Scrumps is a 6 week old short tailed fruit bat, whose mother was rescued from a zoo. He was born after his mother arrived at the sanctuary. While bats are typically wonderful mothers, sometimes the stress of transfer can cause them to drop their babies- and that's what happened with this little guy. We're wrapping up the first week of #BatAppreciationMonth with this video of a hungry, hungry bat gobbling up mealworms! This Big Brown Bat was found on a sidewalk with an abrasion on his lumber spine and small perforations on his wings. Thankfully he was brought to the Center for care and has been undergoing professional wildlife rehabilitation for the past 3 weeks.
