Great question! Radiofrequency Ablation or RFA has become an effective nonsurgical treatment for thyroid nodules. Prior to RFA, a biopsy should be done to confirm the nodule is benign. If the biopsy is inconclusive, a repeat biopsy, either fine needle or core biopsy, should be performed. An inconclusive result doesn’t mean there’s no cancer. If the repeat biopsy is still inconclusive, then surgery should be considered to remove the part of the thyroid with the nodule. Removing the nodule will al
