Some survivors of the sinking of the RMS Titanic reported that the ships string ensemble played the hymn “Nearer, My God, to Thee” as the vessel sank. The hymn is a retelling of Jacob’s Dream from Genesis 28:11–12 of the Bible, and was written by Sarah Fuller Adams.
