Simple steps to learn to draw

I have a little cabinet of “artist’s reference” items that I can draw from life when I feel the art block feeling, but you don’t need special items to get started drawing from life. I draw random chairs quite often (they have such interesting shapes!) and I’ve even drawn my own left hand in a pinch.
