When uke grabs the shirt sleeves from behind, the response is a "swimming" motion that counters uke's attempt to stabilize you. The swimming stroke moves forward instead of to the side, the latter of which uke was bracing for, and the same momentum and footwork "swims" him down by slinging him. This is a 4th technique out of 20 reserved for responses to various types of grapples from the rear from my kwan of Hapkido, which I teach in California.
